There’s a quiet power in the early hours of the morning. At 4:00 AM, the world feels like it belongs to those of us who are already moving. For me, that movement starts with three very important characters: Jim, Hudson, and Doc. My three Cairn Terriers are the heartbeat of my morning. Whether we are navigating a new dog field in the pre-dawn mist or walking the familiar paths of Bury St Edmunds, that time is sacred. It’s where I find my focus before the workday begins.
By the time I arrive at Soap & Suds, I’m ready to go. I built this company from the ground up—from the website to the social media—and I run it with a philosophy of "getting ahead."
I don't just "do laundry." I provide a service that gives people back their most precious commodity: time. Running a business solo means you have to be the CEO, the technician, and the accountant all at once. It’s exhausting, and some days it means working until midnight just to stay on top of the paperwork, but it’s a standard I’m proud to uphold.
My workday doesn't end when the shop doors close at 3:00 PM. After a quick afternoon walk to recharge with the boys, I’m back in the van for my 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM delivery and pickup route.
Even then, the day often isn't done. To ensure we always achieve our guaranteed 24-hour turnaround, I’ll often head back to the shop after my final delivery to get one more round of laundry processed. When I say your laundry will be ready, I mean it and if that means a few extra hours under the shop lights while the rest of the world is winding down, that’s exactly what I’ll do.
By the time I finally head home, I’m tired, yes—but it’s a good kind of tired. It’s the satisfaction of knowing I’ve put in a shift that reflects my standards and keeps my promises to my customers.
Soap & Suds isn't just a laundrette. It’s a testament to what happens when you decide to stop wishing and start doing.
Why Your Cleaner is Bad at Laundry (And Why You’re Tired of Doing It Yourself)
Asking your cleaner to handle 20kg of laundry with a domestic machine is like asking a chef to cook a banquet on a camping stove. You’re paying for their time, but the equipment is holding them back—and you’re the one left with the damp towels
